State Senate -- Big problem due to positive votes on issues opposed by NYSUT. For the first time, the RAC was not able to agree on recommendations for many of the incumbents. The only recommendations were for the following:
2nd SD John Flanagan – no endorsement
4th SD Owen Johnson – no endorsement
5th SD Carl Marcellino - endorse
7th SD Craig Johnson – no endorsement
For all other incumbents, the Endorsement Committee was charged to discuss possible endorsements (or not) and report back to the RAC. The recommendations were as follows:
1st SD Kenneth LaValle – endorse
2nd SD John Flanagan – no endorsement
3rd SD Brian Foley – no endorsement
4th SD Owen Johnson – no endorsement
5th SD Carl Marcellino - no endorsement

The NYSUT Board of Directors made just one change in these recommendations, deleting the endorsement of Carl Marcellino. As a consequence, AT THIS TIME, NYSUT is endorsing one State Senotr from Nassau/Suffolk – Kenneth La Valle.
